Abstract:
ATMI and SRI have developed an entirely new approach to CO2 capture comprising an engineered carbon molecular sieve and an integrated adsorption fractionation process. The carbon has been engineered specifically for this application and acts as a physical adsorbent for CO2. It has high CO2 capacity, low heat of adsorption, high flowability, high chemical stability, and excellent attrition resistance. All of these properties are critical in the SRI process, which recirculates adsorbent countercurrent to a CO2-containing flue gas and a steam regeneration stream in a low pressure drop column configuration.
