Synthetic products that are toxic to mammals and birds and pollute groundwater are being replaced by safer and more environmentally friendly products. Meanwhile, natural product pesticides (=biological or biopesticides) are growing at 10-20% per year and are now about $560 million in global sales. This growth parallels the global growth in organic food and sustainable farming practices. This talk will provide an overview of pesticides derived from natural products (plants and microorganisms), how to discover and develop biological pesticides, barriers to adoption, and factors in successful market adoption. | | This paper is available to CTSI members in PDF© format. | | ISBN: | 1-4200-8502-0 |
