TechConnect Innovation Tracking: United Silicon Carbide, a TechConnect Accelerator participant-ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit, 2012
United Silicon Carbide (USCi) was a Finalist in the Solar Agile Delivery of Electrical Power Technology (ADEPT) program.
USCi is a semiconductor company specializing in the development of high efficiency Silicon Carbide (SiC) devices including Schottky Barrier Diodes, JFETs, BJTs, Solid State Circuit Breakers, Power Modules, and Custom SiC integrated circuits. USCi believes its technology and products enable affordable power efficiency in key markets that will drive the new and greener economy. These include wind and solar power generation, energy storage, electrification of transportation, emerging Smart Grid technologies, motor control, and numerous other applications that require higher efficiency, compact designs, and demanding thermal constraints.
The company tells TechConnect News that it will roll out release of the Diodes & JFET’s through 2013 and for the >3.3kV thyristor based platforms, engineering prototypes are operational, and forecast commercially available products in the next 2-3 years.
USCi attended and exhibited the 2012 APEC, PCIM-EU & PCIM-Asia Conferences.
“We had a terrific response, so we are excited to repeat that in the same shows through 2013. USCi plans to showcase our products and demonstrate how we can develop cost effective and innovative Silicon Carbide products,” notes Les Shirey, VP of World Wide Sales, USCi.
