Showcasers with Primary Industry: Other

CanmetENERGY/Natural Resources Canada

Primary Industry (other):Renewable energy, alternative transportation, carbon capture and storage, net-zero buildings and communities
Title / Name of Technology:CanmetENERGY/Natural Resources Canada
Development Status (other):Concept, prototype, and marketability.
Brief Description of Technology:CanmetENERGY is the Canadian leader in clean energy research and technology development. With over 450 scientists, engineers and technicians and more than 100 years of experience, we are Canada's knowledge centre for scientific expertise in clean electric power, transportation, industry, buildings and communities, and oil sands.

Hyperion Power Generation, Inc.

Title / Name of Technology:Hyperion Power Module
Development Status (other):Will build working demo model at Savannah River National Lab
Brief Description of Technology:Euphemistically called a "nuclear battery," each HPM provides 70 MWthermal - 25 MWelectric power for 10 years. Can be ganged together for greater output. The units are transportable, permanently sealed and never opened on site. Cost: only $50 million. Applications: U.S. military, water purification, remote sites, utilities.

Liquid Light, Inc

Primary Industry (other):Carbon dioxide conversion and utilization
Title / Name of Technology:Conversion of Carbon Dioxide to Fuels and Chemicals
Development Status:Prototype
Brief Description of Technology:Liquid Light, Inc is developing catalysts that allow for the efficient conversion of carbon dioxide to fuels and chemicals. Our technology will enhance energy security and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by allowing carbon dioxide to be utilized.

University of Nevada, Reno

Title / Name of Technology:Transformational Processes for Ammonia Synthesis and Production
Development Status:Concept
Brief Description of Technology:We are developing a high-throughput transformational process for conversion of nitrogen and hydrogen to ammonia using Li3N as a vehicle for catalyzing the reaction that will work at modest temperatures, and pressures of ~1.4 bar as compared to the Haber-Bosch process of ~200-300 bar.
