Ms Sili’a Kilepoa Ualesi works at the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) as the project manager for the Pacific Islands Greenhouse Gas Abatement through Renewable Energy Project or PIGGAREP in short. Sili’a is a Samoan national and she manages the PIGGAREP in collaboration with 14 pacific island countries and regional partners and organizations with the aim to promote the productive use of Renewable Energy to reduce GHG emission by removing the major barriers to the widespread and cost-effective use of commercially viable RE technologies (RETs). She is the focal point on renewable energy and energy efficiency at SPREP. Prior to her current role Sili’a was the Energy coordinator for the Samoan government for over 10 years where she coordinated and manages national energy projects including the coordination of the Samoa national energy policy development and the establishment of the National Energy Coordinating Committee to endorse national energy projects. She was also representing Samoa in several regional and international meetings including high level meetings. Sili’a holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of the South Pacific and a a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Wollongong, Australia.
