He serves on the board of directors of EnerNOC, Inc., and has served on boards of companies in oil and gas drilling, thin-film solar manufacturing, and renewable energy development. His advisory boards have included companies in the areas of the smart grid, algae-derived oils, energy efficient building materials, innovative financing for residential solar systems, small modular nuclear reactors, large-scale power plant engineering and construction, and energy management for small businesses. He currently sits on advisory boards at Stanford, the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and the National Academy of Sciences, and is an advisor to Booz Allen Hamilton’s energy practice. He served on President Obama’s transition team and held two Presidential appointments in the Clinton Administration: at the White House as Associate Director of the OMB, and as the Deputy Secretary and COO of the Department of Energy, the second-highest position at DOE. He is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College and the Harvard Business School.
