James “Christian” joined the faculty of the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute (HNEI), School of Ocean & Earth Science & Technology, University of Hawaii at Manoa, in 2012 as a Project Manager for projects related to the integration and analysis of energy technologies and power systems. Prior to joining the University of Hawaii faculty in August, 2012, Mr. Rawson most recently served as the Deputy Director of the Territorial Energy Office of American Samoa where his work included managing and directing responsibilities for renewable energy planning and integration, as well as transmission planning and construction projects. Mr. Rawson also has extensive knowledge and experience managing US Department of Energy (DOE) grants as a contractor to the DOE office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy administering renewable energy projects in islands across the south pacific. Christian holds a B.S.B.A in finance and construction management from the University of Denver and an M.B.A from Colorado Technical University.
