Joelle Simonpietri is an analyst for the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute, currently on loan to the Pacific Command (PACOM) Resources Directorate, Innovation and Experimentation Division(J81) Energy team. At PACOM, she focuses on managing long-range strategy development and innovation projects for the reduction and replacement of fossil energy use. Prior to joining PACOM J81 in October 2009, she headed an independent consulting and incubation company focused on developing innovative new clean energy concepts, was a partner at Kolohala Ventures, a Honolulu venture capital firm, and a member of the Hawaii Angels investor group. Prior to that, she was a “plankowner” for Waste Management Inc’s Organic Growth corporate venture group. She started her career as a U.S. naval intelligence officer in the Asia-Pacific region. Ms. Simonpietri holds a BS in Neurobiology from Duke University and an MBA in private equity and renewable energy from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
