Senator Brickwood Galuteria currently serves as Majority Leader and Chair of the Committee on Hawaiian Affairs. He also sits as a member on the committees on Commerce and Consumer Protection and Tourism. As Senate Majority Leader, he has been instrumental in helping to increase the Senate’s communications efforts. Recognizing the ever-changing communication landscape, he embarked on increasing communication efforts, particularly increasing the utilization of social media tools to better connect the legislature with the community. In these positions, the Senator developed and supported legislation important to the people of Hawaii. In 2011 he Senate Bill 146 (Act 203): Requires the state Energy Resources Coordinator to conduct a study and issue a preliminary and final report of the conditions and policies necessary to expand biofuel production in the State to displace a significant amount of petroleum-based liquid fuel.
