Mr. Kevin R. Spitzer is a DR-III Senior Materials Engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Materials & Manufacturing Directorate, System Support Division, Acquisition Systems Support Branch, Environmental & Energy (E2) Team (AFRL/RXSC). As part of the E2 Team, Mr. Spitzer identifies needs, plans, advocates, and executes research and technology demonstration projects. Primary tasks are the development, management, and execution of environmental energy programs to meet mission requirements of the System Support Division, the AFMC Pollution Prevention (P2) Integrated Product Team, and the AF Energy Strategic Plan led by SAF/IEN. Responsibilities include synthesizing AF needs, developing requirements, and evaluating both replacement and new Materials & Process (M&P) technology to resolve problems directly affecting the affordability and sustainment of Air Force systems. With a primary focus on Energy, Mr. Spitzer evaluates different methods for generating energy, determines the particular technology’s impact on the environment, assesses their technology maturity, and then applies systems engineering principles to develop a system solution to AF customers. Additional duties include the development and formation of IPTs comprised of both government and industry personnel, to manage and promote cooperative technology development between other DoD services and AFRL.
