The Gas Company

General Motors and The Gas Company are working together to advance the use of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCVs). General Motors will begin the demonstration of fuel cell vehicles in Hawaii in the fall of 2010, while The Gas Company is creating the required hydrogen fueling station infrastructure.

GM operates a fleet of over 100 fuel cell vehicles. They are currently being demonstrated in a number of locations including Los Angeles, Washington DC, New York City, Berlin and Shenghai. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles use zero petroleum and produce zero emissions other than water vapor. They represent a sustainable technology for a better environment and they will ultimately reduce our dependence on petroleum.

The Gas Company is working with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and local station operators to analyze its 1,100 miles of gas pipeline on Oahu and identify station locations and related hydrogen fueling technologies.
