Hawaiian Electric Company

Hawaii-based Pacific Biodiesel Technologies, pioneer of the commercialization of biodiesel in America, owns and operates biodiesel production facilities in Hawaii, Oregon and Texas. Headquartered in Kahului, Hawaii, Pacific Biodiesel was conceived in 1995 in response to serious environmental and health concerns surrounding unmanageable quantities of used cooking oil at the Central Maui Landfill.

Big Island Biodiesel, the latest project of Pacific Biodiesel Technologies, LLC, is Hawaii’s newest and most advanced biodiesel production facility. Big Island Biodiesel will increase the State’s biodiesel production capacity by 500%, to 5.5 million gallons per year.

Pacific Biodiesel’s Salem, Oregon facility offers technology licensing, plant installation, engineering and consulting. Our super-efficient, zero-waste, multi-feedstock process refines used and/or virgin vegetable oil and animal fats into high quality ASTM D6751 biodiesel that can be used in any unmodified diesel engine.
