Phycal, Inc.

"Algae to Energy:" Phycal, Inc. is an algae fuel company created in 2006 to develop an integrated production system for using algae to recycle industrial waste CO2 into renewable fuels. In July 2010, Phycal was selected by the Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory to launch a pilot project in Wahiawa, Oahu to test the viability of growing and harvesting algae, extracting its oil and converting the oil into renewable fuels. Through its subsidiary, Phycal Hawaii R&D, Phycal expects to break ground on its Oahu algae farm in fall 2011. With more than 40 employees, Phycal is based in Highland Heights, Ohio and currently operates a research laboratory in Missouri and a subpilot facility in Ohio.
