Puna Geothermal Venture
Mike Kaleikini is the Plant Manager of Puna Geothermal Venture (“PGV”), where he is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the 30 megawatt geothermal power plant.
PGV has been in commercial operation for over 18 years, and is contracted to provide approximately twenty percent of the Big Island’s electrical needs. Operating the plant safely and efficiently while maintaining high reliability and meeting contractual obligations are goals Kaleikini focuses upon daily.
Kaleikini served six years in the US Navy as an engineer prior to hiring on with PGV in 1991 as a plant operator. Kaleikini was raised in Hau’ula, attended Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Campus and attended college in California.
Mike is actively involved in the community and is a member of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hawaii, Hawaii Island Economic Development Board, Hawaii Leeward Planning Commission and the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce. He is married and has two sons, two grandchildren and enjoys camping, fishing, family gatherings, and gardening.
