Reta Jo Lewis, the Special Representative for Global Intergovernmental Affairs at the Department of State is responsible for serving the global needs of U.S. intergovernmental officials, their sub-national counterparts, and the entities they represent.

Special Representative Lewis reports directly to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and collaborates with other Department bureaus to strengthen the Secretary and Administration’s priorities. Previously, Special Representative Lewis also served as the Director of Business Outreach on the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition Team, as Vice President and Counselor to the President at the United States Chamber of Commerce and in the Clinton White House as Special Assistant to the President for Political Affairs. She has also worked in the private sector as a partner at a prestigious law firm developing relationships with state and local officials, multilateral organizations, firm entrepreneurs and business owners on investment, financial and energy projects.

Ms. Lewis holds a B.A. from the University of Georgia, an M.S.A.J. from American University and a J.D. from Emory University School of Law. Ms. Lewis is a member in good standing of the District of Columbia and Georgia bars.
