Joelle Simonpietri is program manager supporting the Pacific Command (PACOM) Innovation and Experimentation (J81) Energy team, where she develops long-range strategy and innovation projects to improve military and national energy security. She is very active in supply chain development for military biofuels.

Prior to joining PACOM in October 2009, she headed an independent investment and incubation company, Simonpietri Enterprises, focused on developing innovative new clean energy concepts. During that time, she raised over $30 million in early-stage equity financing for her 10 Hawaii-based client companies and helped them to install over 75 megawatts of renewable power and energy efficiency technologies in the state of Hawaii. Prior to moving back to Hawaii in 2007, Ms. Simonpietri worked with the $250 million corporate venture fund for Waste Management Inc, a Fortune 200 company, where she developed the company’s waste-to-fuel investment plan and led its first project.

She began her career with eight years of active duty as a naval intelligence officer serving at US Forces Korea, the Joint Intelligence Center Pacific, and the Pacific Command. She is a Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves, currently on active duty orders to support PACOM.

Commander Simonpietri holds a BS in Neurobiology from Duke University and an MBA in private equity and renewable energy from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
