Energy Recovery Administrator

Since relocating to Hawaii in 2007, Steve has been employed by the City and County of Honolulu as their Energy Recovery Administrator/Manager for H-POWER. H-POWER receives and combusts 60% of the Island’s Municipal Solid Waste, an $100,000,000 annual business generating $50,000,000 in net profit thru the sale of electricity and recovered metals.
He successfully completed a $50,000,000 capital improvement air pollution control project, has embarked on a $50,000,000 plant refurbishment while managing a $302,000,000 capital expansion which will result in the expanded facility handling 90% of the waste stream and increase operating profit commensurately. When complete, H-POWER will deliver approximately 8% of the electrical power on Oahu as clean renewable energy.
Steve previously completed a 35 year career as a Consulting Engineer and Executive in the environmental, transportation and energy generation industries working for major engineer constructors including Bechtel, Parsons and Stone and Webster Engineering Corp.
He is registered Professional Engineer in five states including Hawaii.
He attended Clarkson University, receiving a Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering in 1970; Yale University, as a Special Student, Computer Science, 1983 and;Harvard University, receiving a Graduate degree in Finance and Administration in 1987.
