Marc Matsuura is currently the Manager of Smart Grid Planning at the Hawaiian Electric Company. His primary responsibilities include the overseeing the smart grid planning functions for Hawaiian Electric Company and its subsidiary utilities. This family of utilities own and manage the power systems (including generation, transmission, and distribution) on the islands of Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and Hawaii. Marc has been with the Hawaiian Electric Company for 19 years and has also held positions in the areas of T&D Engineering, T&D Standards and Technical Services, System Operations, and Transmission Planning. Marc is a licensed professional engineering in Hawaii and holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and an M.B.A. degree from the University of Hawaii.
