Christopher Benjamin

Christopher J. Benjamin is senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. and general manager of Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company, a division of A&B. Benjamin joined A&B in 2001 as director, corporate development and planning and in 2004 he was promoted to chief financial officer. In this capacity, he oversees all financial matters of A&B and its subsidiaries, including corporate development. In 2006, he took on the responsibilities of treasurer. In March 2009, Benjamin also was appointed general manager of HC&S, responsible for the day-to-day farming and factory operations of the 35,000-acre sugar plantation on Maui, as well as its renewable energy development efforts. In January 2010, Benjamin assumed responsibility for A&B’s other agribusiness operations, including Kauai Coffee Company.

Prior to joining A&B, Benjamin held positions with General Motors Corporation, Sony Corporation and Booz Allen Hamilton. Benjamin is a graduate of the University of Michigan and holds a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School. A Hawaii resident since 1992, Benjamin has served in non-profit leadership capacities at the local and national level. Currently he serves on the Board of Directors of the Maui Chamber of Commerce, the Institute for Human Services and The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii.
