Greg McCartney

Gregory McCartney has 20 years of environmental work experience in the energy industry throughout Hawaii. He has worked as the Corporate Environmental Manager for Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. (A&B). In this role he worked with A&B Operating Companies state-wide, including at hydro-electric plants, reservoirs, and ditch water supply networks at Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company on Maui and Kauai Coffee Company on Kauai. He also worked as an Environmental Remediation Manager for Chevron Marketing operations state-wide throughout Hawaii. In this role he managed multi-million dollar projects, including oversight of staff, consultants and contractors; and was also a member of the Chevron Worldwide Emergency Response Team trained in Incident Management and Unified Command procedures for emergency response that included exercises in Malaysia, Texas and at numerous ports throughout Hawaii. In addition, over the years he has also worked as an engineering consultant on air emission operating permits for HECO, HELCO, MECO, KIUC, AES Barbers Point and H-Power; as well as on various projects at sites in Guam and on the US mainland for the US DOD. He assessed plant operations with respect to fuel throughput and pollution control technologies. Mr. McCartney has a Master Certificate in Organizational Leadership, Master of Public Health Degree in Environmental Management, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Atmospheric Science, as well as a State of Hawaii Board of Professional Engineers & Architects engineering certification. Mr. McCartney has also been an Adjunct Professor and Teaching Assistant over the years with both Hawaii Pacific University and the University of Hawaii, respectfully. He is also a NASA Ambassador and in this role provides voluntary outreach education to the public on the universe we live in.
