Description

AlphaMicron (AMI™) was founded in 1996 to perform research and development for the Department of Defense. Its focus was to create an electronically controllable tint technology to address the need of U.S. Air Force fighter pilots during their missions. During the past decade, AlphaMicron created and developed the world's only liquid crystal visor that provides electronic tint (e-Tint®) on demand. e-Tint® gives the operator instantaneous control over the tint of his/her eyewear. This technology is now being further developed for other branches of the Armed Forces to provide them with protective eyewear in changing battlegrounds.

Today, AlphaMicron is commercializing its patented technology for high performance consumer applications. The first e-Tint® product was released for snow sport applications (ski goggles). Now, it is being introduced in the automotive (auto-dimming mirrors) and motorsport (motorcycle visor) industries. The technology is also being developed to provide energy efficient adaptive windows. AlphaMicron is also conducting research in other areas including developing novel photonic materials, functional films, specialty chemicals and laser protection eyewear.
