Welcome to California! I am thrilled that so many business leaders and scientists have come together to discuss ways to achieve a sustainable environment.
It is fitting that Cleantech 2007 is being held in the state that has long set the standard for innovative environmental initiatives. It is my belief that our future prosperity, and even our future existence, rests on having a strong economy and a clean environment. We do not need to sacrifice one in order to have the other, and I am proud that California is making great strides in this endeavor. Whether combating global warming, promoting solar technology or encouraging energy efficiency, California is a leader in facing the great environmental challenges of our time.
I commend your conference’s noble mission to confront these issues through the use of clean technology. Accelerating promising technologies from research to production is a valuable component of the sustainability movement, and I send my warmest regards to everyone working to achieve this great step forward. The fruits of your efforts will lead to a brighter future.
I also commend TechConnect for producing this event and all the participants for taking an active role in preserving the environment. I’m certain this gathering will be of great benefit to everyone in attendance and that your experience will be most productive.
