Flywheel Ventures partner, Kim Sanchez Rael, has over 20 years of entrepreneurial start-up, executive management, policy and venture investing experience and leads the firms material science and cleantech investments. Kim led the Flywheel investment in MIOX, Corp., a water disinfection company whose technology treats water using only salt, water and power to generate a dilute disinfectant on site. Prior to Flywheel, she was a co-founder and investor in Qynergy Corporation (and advance materials/energy startup backed by In-Q-Tel) where she served as Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer from 2001-2003. Prior to Qynergy, she spent seven years in executive management at Intel Corporation where she oversaw finance, manufacturing, engineering, and operations and planning. Kim also previously served as a legislative aid in the US Senate, where she focused on science and technology policy and foreign affairs.

A New Mexico native and active public and non-profit servant, Kim serves on the New Mexico State Board of Finance and co-chairs the Governor’s statewide Infrastructure Finance Team. In addition, she serves on the Governor’s Water Infrastructure Investment Team. Kim is a graduate of the Kauffman Fellows program and is co-founder of Social Venture Partners New Mexico. She received her BA with honors from Harvard University and her MBA and Certificate in Public Management from Stanford University.
