Firefly Energy, Inc., US

Keywords: battery, energy storage, electric drive

Firefly Energy has developed an innovative nanotech-based microcell battery technology that unleashes the full power potential of lead acid chemistry while overcoming its traditional performance drawbacks. This technology was developed to meet the needs of the Army’s Silent Watch program to enable tanks to run electronic systems for up to 72 hours with the key off. This unique battery technology delivers a unique combination of high performance, low weight and low cost, meeting performance levels achieved by lithium and nickel metal hydride chemistries but at one-fourth the cost. These batteries also can be manufactured and recycled within the existing U.S. lead acid battery manufacturing infrastructure.
