Martin Carrera is a technology associate in BP's Alternative Energy Division with responsibility to assess emerging clean energy technologies, in particular biotechnology options for fuels. He has worked to identify and provide the strategic links in a renewable energy based value chain.

Martin's career at bp has covered the science and technology of olefins production (e.g. kinetics, thermodynamics, separations, catalysis, and modeling), the fluid dynamic aspects of terephthalic acid crystallization, and strategic studies in clean energy. These posts have been held in Amoco Chemical Company, bp-Amoco Chemicals, bp Chemicals, bp Group Technology's Office of the Chief Scientist, and bp Alterative Energy Venturing Business Unit. Martin has degrees in Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, and Chemistry from MIT (SB) and Physical Chemistry from The University of Chicago (MS, Ph.D.).
