Jim Johnson

Wind Technology Status and Research at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory
Jim was hired at NREL (SERI) in the fall of 1993. He worked as a student
intern for 2½ years in the Structural testing group at the NWTC
prior to being hired. His engineering expertise is in material science,
fatigue life, gearing, bearings, mechanical design and testing.
Currently Jim is the Site Operations engineer, an assignment that
encompasses a variety of administrative over site duties assigned at the
discretion of and reporting directly to the Center Director, Bob
Thresher. Prior to working at NREL Jim worked for Sears Roebuck and Co.
in a variety of middle management positions. He’s extensively
experienced and formally trained in personnel management, technical
professionals’ management, technician management, operations
management, credit, financing and accounting management, technical
product development and procurement. Jim holds a B.S. in Mechanical
Engineering from the University of Colorado.
