The Green Chemistry Program at the US Environmental Protection Agency supports and promotes innovations in pollution prevention through advances in chemical technologies. The Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Awards recognize outstanding, novel chemistry technologies that prevent pollution at the source, have significant human health and environmental benefits, and have or can have significant impacts on industry and society. EPA also supports research and development of novel chemistry technologies through its Science To Achieve Results (STAR), Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), and People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) Awards Programs. Applications of green chemistry to emerging technologies, such as nanotechnology and to traditional industries are discussed.
